As Global Application Engineering and Sales Manager in Baden, you will play a pivotal role in developing and managing our upgrade product portfolio. This position is key to ensuring the profitability of upgrade products and the successful implementation of projects that support our customers' journey towards decarbonization and sustainability. This role focuses on application engineering to develop best in class upgrade solutions for the entire upgrade portfolio. Additionally, you will assume the commercial responsibility for upgrades on several engine brands.

In the upgrade team you are enabled to unfold your “can do” attitude, curiosity, shape upgrade solutions and drive relationship to key stake holders, while having fun and working in a highly collaborative and enthusiastic team.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide customers with optimized turbocharging upgrade solutions to increase the benefits over the lifecycle of engine installations.
  • Employ application engineering tools & methods to define the optimal turbocharging solutions for specific engines (e.g. thermodynamic and mechanical optimization, turbo matching, …)
  • Supervision of commissioning of new upgrade solutions
  • Lead dedicated upgrade and retrofit projects as the project manager by coordinating internal application engineering, design engineering, order processing resources and external partner activities.
  • Develop, establish and profitably grow the global upgrade business with strategic partners, engine designers and end-users in line with budget and targets.
  • Contribute to the upgrade strategy and implement the product development roadmap, considering market trends, commercial opportunities, and technical requirements.
  • Organize, prepare and lead meetings with the network, strategic partners, engine designers, classification societies, end users and third parties for upgrade projects; ensure proper and efficient information transfer between all parties.
  • Successfully manage all interdisciplinary tasks related to the upgrade business across internal and external interfaces.
  • Gather market insights and listen to customer’s voice to identify needs and develop new value propositions.
  • Continuous improvement of internal processes and tools to increase efficiency and enable scalability. Ensure that the upgrade related processes and tools are well defined and available.
  • Provide training to the global sales force on new offerings and technologies.

 

Your background:

  • Master’s degree in engineering ideally with focus on thermo- and/or fluid dynamics.
  • Great interest in the field of IC engines, turbochargers and future technologies.
  • Ideally, at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in application engineering for large IC engines or a PhD in a related field.
  • Strong communicator, able to work successfully in international and cross-functional teams; indirect cross-functional leadership skills required.
  • Willingness to develop sales skills and business acumen, experience as sales or as an entrepreneur is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Understanding of global market trends, customers and strategy.
  • Fluent in English, German language skills are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel as part of various business assignments (10-20%).
