Risk Manager

Job Summary

Zurich Middle East is part of Zurich Insurance Group, one of the world’s largest and most experienced insurers. Our mission is to help our local community understand and protect themselves from risk both locally and globally.

As a member of the Middle East Risk Management team and reporting into the Middle East (Country) Chief Risk Officer, the Risk Manager will contribute to implementation of Zurich Risk Policy and Enterprise Risk Management framework for the Zurich Middle East Life business.

The Risk Manager will promote a culture of sound risk awareness to enhance risk management policies, frameworks and, in particular for the area of information risk (including technology, cyber security and data), 3rd party and change management.

Job Accountabilities

As Risk Manager, your role will involve:

  • Contribute to the timely and accurate execution of assigned activities for designated areas of responsibility across the risk management lifecycle in the relevant areas of the business.
  • Support with the implementation of the risk appetite statement, risk management policies, frameworks, and processes, that is suited for business environment and aligned to Group and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure strong position of Risk Management with stakeholders through promoting a sound risk culture and providing advice regarding risk mitigation and standards/regulations applicable to the management of risk.
  • Supports with 2nd line review and advisory activities, supporting business managers in early identification of risks and advise on risk mitigating actions considering the agreed risk appetite.
  • Perform risk assessments to delivery risk insights.
  • Ensure that risk monitoring and reporting activities are adequately undertaken.
  • Provide consistent, reliable, and timely delivery of ‘360° view’ risk report for relevant committees (Risk & Control Committee) and other governance bodies.
  • Act as a business partner with departments and other assurance providers.
  • Provide subject matter expertise / support other team members in providing risk insights.
  • Maintain / continuously develop own technical skills reflective of developments in information technology and related regulations.

Job Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3 or more years of experience in Risk Management, and with preferred experience with regards to technical aspects of IT security.
  • Strong knowledge of the insurance industry, insurance business model, concepts, and processes.
  • Good grasp of corporate governance and assurance principles.
  • Experience in IT security, designing or reviewing solutions, preferred.
  • Technical training or certification in cyber defence or penetration testing will give a major advantage.
  • Ability to explain technical aspects of IT security to a non-technical audience.
  • Regulatory environment knowledge relevant to information security.
  • Experience of working as 2nd line role, related to operational change, transformation program and 3rd party management.
  • Experience working in multicultural environment, with good understanding of insurance industry, excellent communication and effective relationship management skills.
  • Committed team player with enthusiasm and drive.
