The Institute for Medical Education (IML) is a competence centre in the medical education sector. The team of the Department for Software Development, Usability Consulting and IT Infrastructure (ASCII) consists of developers, system administrators, usability experts and scientists and provides services for internal and external clients. In the field of software development, we design, implement and maintain innovative e-learning and e-assessment products that are successfully used at international educational institutions. All our developments are based on user-centred, test-driven development methods.



Full-Stack Developer (m/f/d)

Your work at the IML

  • You're involved in the development of innovative e-assessment products (measured.iml.unibe.ch)
  • You have the opportunity to help make technical decisions
  • You are part of an agile team building web applications that are robust and maintainable
  • You work in cooperation with our usability experts and clients to improve the user experience

Your profile

  • You have at least three years of experience working with a backend or frontend framework. However, we welcome applications from individuals with less experience if they can demonstrate strong skills and a willingness to learn.
  • You write clean, composable, and testable code
  • You find code quality and well-designed software important
  • You like to work as part of a team and believe in the benefit of personal responsibility over complex hierarchies
  • You speak fluent German and/or English (most of our day-to-day communication is in English)
  • You have experience with (or interest in) some of or all the following (or similar): Javascript - Angular - TypeScript - Ruby on Rails - Continuous Integration - TDD - HTML5 - CSS3 - GraphQL - Postgres - CouchDB - Git - UX
