PhD Student Position in Brain Autophagy
A PhD student position in the Department of Fundamental Neurosciences, UNIL is available in the group of Prof. Vassiliki Nikoletopoulou starting October 2024. We are interested in brain autophagy with our research projects centered on molecularly characterizing selective autophagy mechanisms in neurons and reveal their roles in synapses. The project will focus on studying autophagy-dependent protein secretion in the healthy, aged and diseased brain.

Expected start date: 01.10.2024, negotiable
Contract length: 1 year (renewable to maximum 4 years)
Activity rate: 100 %
Workplace: University of Lausanne, Department of Fundamental Neurosciences, Switzerland
Conditions and remuneration will be according to the regulations of the Swiss National Science Foundation for doctoral students.


Your responsibilities

The candidate will be expected to master and apply state of the art techniques in biochemistry, dynamic cellular imaging and molecular biology. The experimental toolbox for this project will also include, stereotaxic injections into mouse brains, FACS-sorting of cells and vesicles and proteomic analyses.


 


Your qualifications

Applicants should hold a master with a background in cellular and molecular biology techniques, biochemistry, or imaging, and have a keen interest in neuroscience.

Our department hosts state-of-the-art facilities and dynamic exchanges with other UNIL departments and the wider life sciences community of the lac Leman region. PhD students are enrolled in the Lemanic Neuroscience Doctoral School.
