Battery Cell Test Engineer

FPT Motorenforschung AG in Arbon has around 250 highly qualified employees
working with commitment and acknowledged success. As the main innovation center for
FPT Industrial, the site is involved in developing future powertrain solutions (not only in
electrified powertrains, hybrids and fuel cells, but also novel engines concepts and
alternative fuels) and is therefore at the forefront of a transition towards a future of
alternative propulsion systems.

We would like to fill the following position as soon as possible:

Battery Cell Test Engineeer

As a member of the Battery Validation Team you will be part of a highly skilled team
driven to design and engineer best-in-class battery modules, packs and systems for FPT
Industrial electrified powertrain product portfolio. You will work in a collaborative and
multidisciplinary team environment, contributing to the development of advanced
concepts as well as their implementation for application to on-road vehicles and non-
road applications.

Your tasks

• Defining and coordinating cell characterization and benchmarking tests taking
  place in Arbon, Switzerland and other facilities.


• Collaboration with algorithm development and battery modelling teams to derive
  cell parameters and derive optimal treatment of cells in various applications


• Plan and supervise tests on rigs (components) and test benches


• Communicate results through presentations and clear documentation


• Assisting on battery modelling


• Coordinate with external test laboratories and research institutes.

• Connect the organization to the latest cell technology developments and trends
  in industry, also monitoring market and competitors’ product portfolio


• Informing data analysts on interpretation of battery data to maximise
  effectiveness

Your profile
Basic Qualifications:

• Professional or university education MSc degree in electrochemistry


• Proven record of accomplishment in testing and research of battery cells


• Strong attention to detail in both experimental setups and data analysis


• Very good understanding of advanced cell characterization techniques: GITT,
  HPPC, ARC, etc.


• Able to document and communicate results according to target group


• Able to read and digest battery research papers effectively


• Highly motivated and accurate working self-starter


• Willing to constantly learn


• Willing to interact in a multinational environment


• English language C1, written and spoken


• Experience in product development processes

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 years working experience in a relevant field.


• Expertise in MATLAB


• Experience with DVP (Design Validation Plans), ISO 6469, IEC 62620, and other
  relevant battery standards


• Fluency in German or Italian language, written and spoken


• Experience working with sensor equipment (pressure, temperature, voltage,
  current, gas, etc.)
