What you will do

In this vital role the Government Affairs Lead (Manager) will develop and implement the Swiss Policy Plan, which delivers against Amgen’s long-term business priorities. You will establish, maintain and expand relationships with key policy stakeholders, advocacy groups and other relevant influencers, raise awareness for key policy issues such as the benefit of biopharmaceutical research and provide science-based guidance and messaging to enable informed decision-making. Being part of the Value, Access & Policy (VA&P) Team, enabling sustainable patient access to our breakthrough medicines will be at the core of your responsibilities. The successful candidate will report to the Head of VA&P.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops Swiss Policy Plan according to business priorities and leads on implementation, involving various internal functions to amplify outcomes

  • Builds targeted stakeholder mapping according to Policy Priorities and owns stakeholder management with a particular focus on alliance building across industry and other relevant partners

  • Grows policy network, expanding Amgen’s reach and reputation

  • Develops compelling and tangible narratives and messaging material, targeting a variety of lay and professional audiences

  • Connects the dots between policymakers and strategic accounts (e.g. hospitals) on a regional level, raising awareness for Amgen’s clinical footprint in Switzerland and its value to the health care system

  • Takes the lead on assigned industry working groups, supporting the association strategy and shaping outcomes

  • Monitors emerging policy developments and gives proactive input on necessary adjustments to the VA&P strategy

  • Actively participates in Access Committee and VA&P department meetings

What we expect of you

We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. What we seek in you as an experienced professional, are these qualifications and skills:

  • Master’s degree in economics, political science, biomedical science, law or similar academic area with relevance for biopharmaceutical regulation and governance

  • At least 5 years of experience in the Swiss health care system, e.g. (bio)pharmaceutical industry or academics or health insurers or health authorities with proven strong success record

  • At least 3 years previous experience in Policy/Public Affairs or Market Access roles

  • Exceptionally strong analytical skills and strong networking skills

  • Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills in German and English, proficiency in additional local languages (French, Italian) preferred

  • Sophisticated understanding of the Swiss policy landscape, health care environment, and current challenges for the biopharmaceutical industry

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with different functions and lead workstreams in a complex matrix organization
