Who We Are

Founded in 2017, Unit8 is a fast-growing Swiss AI and data analytics consulting and services company dedicated to solving complex problems of traditional industries like automotive, chemical, financial services, manufacturing and pharma. We work with some of the biggest organisations in Europe to solve the challenges that directly affect their business - be it operations, finance, manufacturing or R&D. These are some examples of projects that we have been working on

• Building a real-time production line monitoring system for the pharmaceutical industry in order to improve the throughput of the production processes for the Pharmaceutical Industry. Technologies: AWS, EKS, CloudFormation, Docker, Python
• Building system for calculating and delivering global climate scores i.e. estimating the impact of climate change on the risk of natural disasters (i.e. floods, wildfires & droughts) for the Insurance Industry. Technologies: PySpark, Python, Proprietary Data Processing Platform
• Building a modern data science platform including a data lake for Chemical Industry. Technologies: Azure, ML Studio, Data Factory, Databricks, Spark

Are You the team member we are looking for?

Unit8 is looking for a Cloud Architect to join our team in Lausanne. You will be part of diverse project teams and will partner with our engineers and data scientists to deliver cloud solutions for our clients.

• You have strong hands-on experience with cloud architecture design and implementation on one of the following platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP.
• You have experience with cloud migration, hybrid environments, and cloud security best practices.
• You have a solid technical background and engineering experience with conceptualising, strategising, and architecting cloud solutions. Prior experience with consulting and building solutions for enterprise customers is a plus.
• You are passionate about your Data and Analytics domain and like to introduce new improvements that make sense and are pragmatic for the end-users, helping them to derive value out of their data.
• You are outcome-focused and you have a customer-service-oriented mindset.
• Your are open to tackle new areas and challenges like designing and building novel AI & Data Science stacks or setting up MLOps infrastructure
• You have strong client-facing skills: comfortable interacting with clients (business & technical audience), delivering presentations, problem-solving mindset.

What You'll do

At Unit8 we build a wide range of applications for our clients in various industries, as well as internal tools, each with their own set of challenges. In general, you will:

• Design, propose, build and maintain Data & Cloud architectures in close collaboration with the key stakeholders. Specifically, you will tackle challenges related to modern Data & AI cloud-native stacks.
• Be a trusted advisor to our enterprise business customers and their CIO/CTO/CDO/Head of Platform functions.
• Participate in customer meetings, and visit the clients on-site when needed, to discuss the specific solutions you’re designing and implementing
• Audit cloud architectures in terms of functionality and security gaps as well as suggesting and following through on improvements.

• Present work to stakeholders and top management.
• Help scope and draft proposals for new engagements.
