The EuroTube Foundation is a Swiss non-profit research organisation for sustainable transportation technologies. The Foundation is fostering R&D for sustainable vacuum transport, provides research infrastructure and is setting industry standards for a safe and efficient deployment of the technologies. The EuroTube Foundation’s first big mission is to build the AlphaTube. The first publicly accessible vacuum transport test track that operates electric pods efficiently in an unprecedented target speed regime of up to 900 km/h. The EuroTube team is currently working on creating the necessary documentation to obtain the construction permit for the AlphaTube. This position is - in the function of project owner - responsible for managing the construction work of the AlphaTube testing facility for vacuum transport. In this function you collaborate with the lead planners resp. check engineers from SBB resp. Perret Gentil who are responsible for the development of the permit dossier of this construction project. Moreover, you will work closely with the Leadership of the EuroTube Foundation to assure coordination with the Research & Development and Operations departments and external stakeholders.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leading the works on the Zone Development Plan and the cantonal construction authorization procedure together with partners. 

  • Coordination with the authorities of the Canton of Valais and the Commune of Collombey-Muraz as well as the parties entrusted with the execution of the construction work, mitigation of potential conflicts and opposition

  • Oversight of the AlphaTube construction progress, compliance with cost, schedule, safety and quality as well as preparation of financial and progress reports for the AlphaTube Steering Committee

  • Management of public tenders for planning and construction services 

  • Proactively build partnerships with enterprises from the industry and region

  • Implementation of core functions of the vactrain transport technology together with the engineering teams

Qualifications & Skills:

  • University degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • At least 3 years of experience in construction management

  • Experience with construction permit procedures in Switzerland

  • Experience with Calls for Bids, Design-Build and Public-Private Partnership contracting 

  • Fluency in English and French, German is an advantage

  • Independent & responsible work attitude

  • Strong communication & negotiation skills

  • Flexibility to respond to challenges that arise from a breakthrough project in a new technological field

  • Construction Management Certification is a plus

Place of work:

We provide an office and workplace in Lausanne/Zürich and some work can be done remotely from home. For this position proximity to the construction site in Collombey-Muraz, VS is preferred. From day one you can work independently and take on responsibility for your responsibilities and
