Position for a PhD assistant in Philosophy

USI invites applications for a PhD position in Philosophy (100%, 4 years).
The Ph.D. Position
The doctoral student will work with a supervisor and a co-supervisor chosen from the
professors who teach the Master in Philosophy at USI (www.map.usi.ch).
On the teaching side, she/he will work as a teaching assistant, helping in the preparation
of teaching materials and tutoring students.
The candidate will also undertake substantial administrative tasks and support the academic
initiatives in the area of Philosophy at USI.
The PhD candidate is also expected to present papers at scientific conferences and submit
papers for publication in philosophy journals.
Candidates should satisfy the following requirements:
- A Master (or equivalent title) in Philosophy by the time of the appointment.
- AOS: metaphysics, logic, philosophy of science or philosophy of mind.
- Fluency in English and Italian.
Past administrative or tutoring experience is desirable.
Workplace is Università della Svizzera italiana, located in Lugano, Switzerland.
Availability to travel to other parts of Switzerland and abroad (for purposes of collaboration
and research) is required.
Starting date is September 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.
