Professor position in the Conservation of Time-Based Media Art (60-100%)
at its Research and Conservation-Restoration departments beginning May of 2018 (or by arrangement)
We seek a colleague with research proficiency and teaching experience in the conservation of time-based media in the arts.
The ideal candidate will bring broad expertise in interdisciplinary conservation research dedicated to the field, has practical experience as well as enthusiasm for teaching conservation-restoration students at the Masters' level. We are especially interested in candidates who contribute to the diversity and excellence of the existing team of our Modern Materials and Media conservation unit through research, teaching and service.
Applicants are expected to have an adequate academic qualification (e.g. a PhD) as well as extensive experience and publications in the field to successfully acquire research grants, e.g. from the Swiss National Fund (SNF) or from the Swiss Innovation Agency (Innosuisse, KTI). The candidate should be familiar with the most recent developments in media conservation and be able to contribute to the further development of the study programme. Lectures may be taught in English but knowledges of a Swiss National language (German or French) would facilitate communication with students and staff.
We offer an employment rate of 60% dedicated to research and teaching, which can be increased to 100% through acquired funded projects. During a first period, the employment will be limited to three years. Depending on the success in research and teaching, the time limit may be dropped. The position offers the opportunity to work in a committed team of specialists in the conservation of Modern Materials and Media as well as modern infrastructure for teaching and research.
