Within our Structured Solutions & Treasury department we are currently looking for a

Head Underwriting – Lombard & Mortgages

In this key senior manager role, you will lead our credit structuring and approval teams for mortgages and lombard loans. In addition, you will drive the development of our credit risk infrastructure and business processes and take them to the next level.

The role requires an established, senior leader who has long-standing experience in credit underwriting across various asset classes and who can drive change. We are looking for a leader with a strong track record in credit underwriting for private banks, proven and tested leadership skills, and expertise to achieve exceptional results while demonstrating exceptional risk awareness. You’ll be responsible for:


  • the leadership and development the loan underwriting organisation – 2 teams with total 9 full time equivalents

  • leading by example, motivating and supporting your colleagues to achieve outstanding results

  • contributing to and implementing the lending strategy in close cooperation with our client unit Wealth Management and our second line of defence

  • credit decisions at your authority level

  • manage escalation cases and ensure active stakeholder management at senior level

  • driving key projects and initiatives with substantial impact for the lending business with focus on lombard loans and Swiss mortgages

  • driving forward process digitization with a focus on improving the customer experience and increasing efficiency in the production of our credit offering

  • enhancing the infrastructure in terms of risk measurement, and monitoring

  • the analysis of the performance of the lending book and identification of business opportunities and risks

  • further refinement of the control framework


  • acting as a sparring partner for Wealth Management Relationship Managers and Senior Management representatives developing adequate financing solutions for our clients

The ideal candidate brings


  • a master’s degree in Banking & Finance or equivalent higher education

  • a minimum of 15 years proven experience in the financial industry

  • native (Swiss) German language, fluency in English; any additional language is an advantage

  • strong leadership skills, ability to manage change, to create commercial inspiration, and to empower and energize staff

  • a proven and long-standing track record in credit structuring and underwriting for a high profile and demanding clientele within a Wealth Management organisation

  • outstanding analytical skills combined with a “can-do attitude” and a structured, solution-oriented approach

  • excellent communication skills combined with the ability to instil trust, develop and maintain a professional stakeholder management
