PSI operates diverse particle accelerators, including the SwissFEL and the Swiss Light Source (SLS). The proton accelerators at PSI include the cancer therapy facility PROSCAN, as well as the high-intensity proton accelerator (HIPA) with the world's most intense proton beam. Your tasks

Your primary task will be the operation of the PSI accelerator facilities within a team of operators (70% shift duty, 3-shift-7-day operation). In addition, you will assume the role of developing and maintaining the control room software (30%) in coordination with the controls section. As part of your shift work, you will help within a team with the commissioning and optimization of accelerator operation, diagnose and handle operational problems, collaborate on beam physics program and operate the remote personal safety systems.

Your profile

  • Academic degree in physics or a related field 
  • Experience with Linux software development and maintenance 
  • Your flexible, responsive operation readiness, as well as good German and English skills complete your profile 
  • Ideally, you have already gained experience with shift work and have a willingness for continuous training
