LEGAL COUNSEL – GOVERNANCE (Geneva - Switzerland)

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) is the governing body of motor sport and the federation of the world's leading motoring organisations. The FIA is an international non-profit association.

OVERVIEW:

The FIA Legal Office is looking for a Legal Counsel to join its team. The Legal Counsel will report to the Head of Governance and work in particular on:

• FIA Governance

• FIA Membership

• Corporate-related matters

MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES:

1. FIA Governance

•Analysis of governance-related proposals presented to the FIA bodies

•Support in preparing the documents, proposals and working papers for FIA bodies

•Legal advice to FIA bodies and structures (General Assembly, Senate, World Councils, Mobility Regions, etc.) and FIA departments

•Legal monitoring of the FIA Statutes and Internal Regulations and their amendments

•Support of the legal and administrative coordination of the Statutes Review Commission and the Nominations Committee

•Legal and administrative support in relation to the FIA General Assembly.

2. FIA Membership

•Management of the affiliation procedure

•Analysis of affiliation requests and advice to the organisations in preparing affiliation files

•Follow-up of the proceedings related to FIA Members

•Analysis and follow-up of questions related to FIA Members.

3. Miscellaneous

•Legal advice on and support of specific assignments

•Drafting of replies, proposals and other interpretations

•Research, studies and drafting of reports and analyses.

PROFILE:

• Bachelor/Master in Law or equivalent qualification (master's degree in sports law would be an asset)

• 1 to 3 years’ experience as a lawyer in a law firm or as in-house counsel in a legal department/

division (within an international sports organisation would be an asset)

•Knowledge of Swiss law and/or French law

•Proficient with Microsoft Office package

•Excellent analytical and drafting skills

•Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills

•Experience working in an international environment would be an asset

•Ability to manage multiple tasks

•Interest in sports in general

•Proficiency level in French and English; other languages would be an asset
