Assistant Professorship (Non-Tenure track) for Critical Care Sepsis

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for an

Assistant Professorship (Non-Tenure track) for Critical Care Sepsis.

The position is limited to six years and is located at the Department of Intensive Care Medicine of the University Hospital Zurich (USZ).

Translational research and expertise in this area are crucial to improve the patient pathway from early recognition of a serious infectious pathology, through hospitalization, to reintegration with the best possible quality of life. We seek for a person with a strong background in patient-oriented clinical/translational critical care research. Already existing experience in designing and conducting clinical trials will be an advantage. Additional expertise in research with big data, and translational skills will also be welcome. A strong scientific track record with publications in international peer reviewed journals and with successful acquisition of competitive third-party grants is expected.

The successful candidate should hold an MD or MD-PhD and a board certification in intensive care medicine. She/he has already acquired experience as a leading senior physician. Excellent leadership and communication skills that enable interprofessional and trans-structural collaboration in both clinical and research settings are important. Excellent skills in motivating staff and a strong commitment to mentoring, teaching and empowering students, physicians and allied staff for clinical and research excellence are required. A habilitation or equivalent qualification is required.

German language skills at level B2 of the common European framework of reference for languages should be available or must be acquired within a reasonable period of time.
