The Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PSFP) section within the Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) works with National Committees and Country Offices to drive and maximize income growth for children in emergencies.

The Humanitarian Funding Unit in PSFP supports and coordinates cross-organization initiatives on humanitarian crisis and sudden onset disasters by leading global efforts in maximizing funding opportunities and supports National Committees and Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) Countries.

Within the Humanitarian Funding Unit, the Knowledge Management Specialist is responsible for the collection and analysis of all relevant information from different stakeholders including HQ departments, National Committees and Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) countries and make them available to support and promote evidence-based and informed decision making. To support the knowledge management function, the Humanitarian Funding Unit is looking for professional support for the documentation of several good practices of private sector fundraising through and for emergencies, to facilitate their replication by other fundraising offices (UNICEF National Committees and UNICEF Country Offices).

How can you make a difference?

PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT

Within the framework of the PFP Impact plan, the overall purpose of this assignment is to document good practices across income streams that contribute to fundraising through and for emergencies. The clearly and detailed documented good practices will be essential for the roll-out of an in-depth learning methodology to facilitate the replication of these good practices by other fundraising offices.

OBJECTIVE

The overall objective is to set up one or several Long-Term Agreement(s) to hire (a) consultant(s) to document good practices related to humanitarian fundraising, identified by the PFP Humanitarian Funding Unit in consultation with members of the PFP Emergency Task Force.

MAJOR TASKS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED

  • Conduct a desk review of the available materials shared by the Knowledge Management Specialist in the Humanitarian Funding Unit.
  • Prepare and conduct interviews with key informants in the Fundraising Offices.
  • Structure all available relevant resources: templates, agreements, protocols, presentations, materials related to the good practice and file them in a structured way on the Humanitarian Funding Unit’s SharePoint site.
  • Write up each good practice (10-12 pages) with links to available resources.
  • Develop a one-pager on each good practice.
  • Prepare and conduct a one-hour online learning session for all interested fundraisers.

Responsibilities of the Consultant:

  • The consultant will use his/her/their own equipment; laptops, microphones, software and other accessories that may be required for this task.
  • The consultant will not give the content/material or any part thereof, to any third party without the written permission of UNICEF. All components will be a property of UNICEF, and the consultant will not share the same with anyone else.
  • The consultant will not put their own name or logo/emblem on the content / final product. The only organization branding will be UNICEF, if required.
  • Regular liaison with manager.

Responsibilities of UNICEF:

  • UNICEF will provide all details pertaining to the activity and the requirements.
  • UNICEF will share the documents and specifications with the consultant as he/she becomes available and will coordinate the timely delivery of work.

DELIVERABLES

  • Desk reviews of the available materials shared by the Knowledge Management Specialist in the Humanitarian Funding Unit
  • Interviews with key informants in the Fundraising Office
  • Structured repositories (with table of content) on the PFP Humanitarian Funding Unit Collaboration Sharepoint site with all relevant resources: templates, agreements, protocols, presentations, materials
  • Reports (10-12 pages) with the detailed documentation of a good practices
  • One-pagers summary of the good practice
  • One-hour online webinar with a PowerPoint presentation to present the good practice.

FINANCIAL PROPOSAL TEMPLATE

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • An advanced university degree (master’s) in Knowledge management, Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, International relations, Political science, or other related fields is required.

Experience:

  • At least five years of professional experience in knowledge management, fundraising, marketing, international development, communication, international relations, or a related field is required.
  • Experience in documenting good practices is required.
  • Experience with private sector fundraising is an asset.
  • Experience working with UN/UNICEF is an asset.

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in another UN language is an asset.

Others:

  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Strong inter-personal skills.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural team is an asset.
  • Experience working remotely, very responsive over email and Microsoft Teams.
