ROAD SPORT SAFETY MANAGER

ROAD SPORT SAFETY MANAGER (Geneva - Switzerland)

Under the responsibility of the Head of Operational Safety, the Road Sport Safety Manager applies his/her expertise and knowledge to improve safety on Road Sport disciplines worldwide, ranging from national to World Championship level.

MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Supporting the FIA Road Sport Department, ASNs and Road Sport event organisers to identify and effectively manage the safety risks to competitors, volunteers, officials, marshals, media and spectators.
  • Managing operational safety matters related to Road Sport competitions.
  • Developing and maintaining best practice guidelines and regulations.
  • Conducting detailed accident investigation for incidents, with particular focus on operational factors.
  • Defining a budget forecast to deploy the safety strategy.

Managing the Closed Road Commission:

  • Definition of objectives according to the FIA strategy, planning, preparation of meetings, follow-up and end-of-year reporting.

Managing the Safety Delegates team:

  • Safety expert selection and on-event deployment.
  • Ensure the sharing of knowledge is shared between the FIA and ASN Safety Delegates.

Managing the Closed Road Safety Task Force:

  • Deployment follow-up / safety expert selection / collaboration between the FIA /ASNs / Event Organisers.

PROFILE:

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience of motor sport including a minimum of 5 years in a Motor Sport Federation.
  • Strong knowledge of measures related to motor sport accident prevention and injury mitigation.
  • Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of complex technical issues using a first principles approach of engineering / science.
  • Experience in the organisation of race track and/or motor sport events.
  • Experience in the management of projects and budgets.
  • Ability to motivate staff members towards a shared objective.
  • Excellent English skills (additional proficiency in another European language would be a plus).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and other IT tools designed to enable real-time collaboration between different locations.
