Consultant in Circular Economy and Waste Management

Allow us to introduce ourselves.

At dss+, we are not just your average operations consulting firm; we are implementers and change makers. Our passion lies in engaging organisations to craft resilient and sustainable business, guiding them through transformational changes in safety, risk and resilience and through their energy transition. We take the complex world of risk and sustainability and translate it into actionable roadmaps that work with our clients’ business. We implement, working side-by-side with our clients to deliver real, tangible results.

dss+
services fall into three core areas—operational risk management, operational excellence and sustainability—each bolstered by learning, development and culture change solutions and digital technologies. Teams around the globe work with clients in metals and mining, chemicals, oil and gas, power and utilities, agriculture, food and beverage, industrial and manufacturing, and private equity.

We pride ourselves in combining industry experts and on the ground experience with strong people-centric change management capabilities. This creates the perfect blend to support our clients from intent to impact, enabling them to protect what they care for, transform their organisation, and sustain the changes required to make their vision a reality, in a practical actionable way.

What will we offer?

We have a strong growth trajectory, which means unprecedented opportunity for the people on our teams. You are comfortable in a ‘start-up’ environment, have a positive can-do attitude and are comfortable with ambiguity. You are able to adapt and pivot quickly depending on the needs of the moment whilst still maintaining a focus on the long-term goal. At the same time, you understand the need for rigour, process and consistency which come from being part of an established global organisation.

In return, dss+ assures that you will have the opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing consulting environment. You can build capabilities while delivering exceptional services, and really have an impact. That’s something to be proud of! Our unique, flexible working model allows our employees to combine a work life balance by working from home and travelling as needed.

Does this sound like you?

As a Consultant, you provide expertise, support acquisition and lead projects to support our clients in implementing circular economy solutions. Within your work, you will:

  • Provide technical advice to our clients on formulating circular economy strategies and follow up on the implementation of solutions.
  • Carry out technical audits to assess the compliance of waste treatment operators.
  • Work internationally to develop and implement circular economy solutions, with possible travel.
  • Organize and deliver training and workshops.
  • Develop tools and models to measure and assess material flows and their impacts.
  • Manage work packages independently, including the preparation of high-quality, client-oriented reports and presentations.
  • Support the acquisition of new projects by developing solutions for our clients and contributing to technical and commercial proposals.

Who are you today?

We are looking for a consultant who can drive tangible results and help implement commercially viable solutions.

  • You have a Master's degree or equivalent in environmental science or engineering.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in circular economy and waste management. Experience in the Swiss context is an advantage.
  • You are a methodical and organised person with proven project management and decision-making skills.
  • You are passionate about impact-driven work and excited to work with clients striving to integrate profit and purpose.
  • You thrive in complexity, are a natural problem solver, and dig deep for patterns and pathways even in the midst of ambiguity, with the flexibility to analyse and adapt to situations.
  • You're not afraid to ask questions when you need clarity, and you're willing to challenge both your own and your team's perspectives.
  • You can navigate complex research projects, absorb and synthesise large amounts of information, and confidently draw conclusions from your research and translate them into clear recommendations and guidance for the team.
  • You are detail-oriented, highly organised, and enjoy bringing structure to projects through activity planning and team management.
  • You demonstrate effective leadership skills to drive execution in complex environments. You can work independently, but are a good listener and connect easily with others, making you a great team player.
  • You enjoy the variety and sometimes ambiguous contexts of contributing to a wide range of client projects unfolding simultaneously.
  • You have strong/effective verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable interacting with different levels of the organisation, from executives to technicians and operators.
