Responsibilities

Logistics & Distribution

  • Organize delivery and shipment to customers (South Africa and Export) in line with Service Level Agreement.
  • Manage a team of 2 employees: local distribution, export Africa and worldwide
  • Management of Warehouse team (8 permanent employees + temporary) and external providers in other warehouses in South Africa
  • Management of the Sales Admin team (4 permanent employees)
  • Capturing and input of sales order and invoices
  • Manage of returns (credit note, physical return)
  • Cooperate with sales manager for outlook sales for next month
  • Continuous improvement project follow up
  • Inventory management: responsible for stock taking, minimizing inventory discrepancies re finished product, accessories and spare parts.
  • Full control of inbound, outbound, returns and warehouse procedures
  • Support health & safety culture within the organization
  • Responsible for logistics costs (warehousing/distribution/stock adjustment/scrap/inbounds/ duties: overall more than 2 Mio €)
  • Monthly analysis of logistics costs and budget, forecast, actual and variance analysis
  • Analysis of drivers of logistics performance (drop size, delivery size, order size, geomix analysis cost/pcs, cost/m3, cost/km) and provide decision support to Country Manager
  • Align distribution with customer and business needs to meet anticipated targets
  • Ensure performance within established KPI’s and drive improvement initiatives to evaluate customer needs to maximize end-to-end logistics performance

Finished Product: Production Planning

  • Ensure full availability of products to sales department
  • Comply with stock target defined centrally by company
  • Support sales planning process with market and SOP meeting with T&I
  • Daily analysis of stock & customer orders; check product availability
  • Provide operational forecast in conjunction with planning department for monthly planning
  • Analysis of sales figures (actual, budget, forecasting)
  • Introduction of KPIs in local system (e.g. service level to customers, stock out report)

Finished Product: Import Management

  • Monthly import forecasting to m+4
  • Build relationships with third party suppliers (transport), internal and international stakeholders
  • Management of inbound (keep contact with broker re customs clearance) for quick clearance
  • Extensive alignment with the order to bill process
  • Screen, capture, and adhere to system driven requirements to process invoices from suppliers, transport providers etc. for approval by HQ’s

Logistics Improvements

  • Propose strategic projects for improvement of service/cost reduction
  • Scout for new suppliers, negotiate optimal agreements
  • Optimize country footprint
  • Define and agree on local production constraints, and rules re finished product planning

Requirements Education

  • Relevant Degree/qualification in Supply Chain Management

Experience

  • 5 years’ experience in supply chain management
  • Previous experiences in multinational companies

Competencies and Skills:

  • Experienced and skilled user of supply chain management software (e.g. SAP)
  • Well-versed in inventory processes and systems
  • Hands-on leadership style
  • Strong communicator, at all levels
  • Builds and leads teams
  • Good time-management skills
  • Solid critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Can influence across all working cultures
  • Knowledge of the industry and best practices an advantage
  • Some knowledge of export processes and procedures
