About the business

Zurich’s AU & NZ business has three core segments Retail, Group Insurance and General Insurance who have end-to end accountabilities to better serve their customers. They are enabled by Shared Services teams that have a large portfolio of responsibilities. Technology (IT), Sustainability, Health Services, Agile & Continuous Improvement and Strategy & Strategic Execution form a portfolio.

Our Technology team is critical to progressing Zurich towards being Australia’s leading Digital Insurer. A rare opportunity exists as Chief Architect, reporting to the Chief Information Officer, Australia & NZ.

The Chief Architect will play a critical role in leading the organization’s technological vision and ensuring the architecture supports the business's overall strategy. This executive will be responsible for the design, governance and oversight of the company's technology applications and infrastructure, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and secure to meet current and future business needs. to drive technological innovation and efficiency across the organization.

The Chief Architect will lead a team of architects and will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the architectural direction, standards, road maps, patterns, and methodologies for all technology areas. The Chief Architect will work closely with the IT leaders, delivery squads, and business stakeholders.

Important to your success - let's grow together

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on enterprise architecture within a complex organization.
  • Strong foundation in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman) and experience implementing EA initiatives.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing technology solutions that support business transformation and operational efficiency.
  • Understanding of the insurance industry's regulatory environment and business models.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to identify technology trends and assess their potential impact on the business.
  • Experience with Agile, Lean, and DevOps culture, practices & tools.
