Factory Manager - Surge Arresters 80 – 100% (f/m/d)


In our Profit Center Surge Arresters in Wettingen, Switzerland, we produce and offer innovative, reliable and secure overvoltage protection solutions in the segments of power generation and distribution, railway, and industry. The Surge Arresters Factory is a business unit within Hitachi Energy located in Wettingen, Switzerland.  


Join our team as a Factory Manager. In this role you will manage and overview all aspects related to operations of the manufacturing unit including project management, engineering, production, supply chain, quality and operational excellence. Furthermore, you will drive large CAPEX investments projects of the factory.

Your responsibilities

  • Implement the global business unit and product group manufacturing strategy

  • Implement Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and business compliance standards and regulations within the unit

  • Ensure that the factory is properly organized with clear roles and responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with global and local standards, rules, tools, policies, and processes related to operations/project execution and share functional best practices and lessons learned across the organization

  • Develop proactive strategies to increase business profits, customer satisfaction and operational effectiveness

  • Drive quality improvement through target setting, monitoring and benchmarking 

  • Drive the transformation and continuous improvement with a positive mindset

  • Deliver operational/project targets (e.g. ROTD, lead time, quality, etc.) to improve net promoter score (NPS)

Your background

  • Higher Education in mechanical or electrical engineering 

  • Executive MBA and financial background is beneficial

  • Proven track record in a senior management role of manufacturing unit 

  • Great leadership skills and excellent interpersonal skills

  • International working experience and intercultural competence

  • Continuous improvement mindset

  • Fluency in English and German is required, both written and spoken
