DevOps Engineer 70 - 100 %

SwissRDL is a centre of excellence for Medical Registries and Data Linkage and part of the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM), University of Bern. We maintain, support, monitor and analyse medical registries in a range of disciplines relevant to medical research and public health.
Join our dynamic team of software developers, data managers, project managers, epidemiologists, and statisticians who implement and maintain various medical registries and support our clients. Our team is responsible for developing and maintaining cutting-edge software for medical registries and documentation. As a Linux and Docker systems expert, you will play a crucial role in managing, improving, and extending our existing systems, deploying CI/CD pipelines, and implementing testing policies.

You will work closely with the development team and have the opportunity to contribute new ideas and shape the future of our projects with your expertise.

DevOps Engineer

The duties and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Efficiently operating, monitoring, maintaining, and developing ICT systems and their applications
  • Responsibility for maintaining Linux/Docker systems and coordinating, implementing, and documenting the respective CI/CD processes
  • Defining and establishing automated tests, processes, and methods with the development team
  • Monitoring the server and applications
  • Providing support in the further development of the system architecture

Qualifications and skills:

  • You have a tertiary degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (MSc, BSc)
  • Ideally, you have experience as a DevOps engineer and Linux system administrator
  • You also have experience with Docker and Docker Swarm, as well as testing policies and business test implementations
  • Knowledge of Java programming, monitoring systems (such as Prometheus), and SQL and database systems is an advantage
  • You possess excellent organizational skills and a good command of English, which is the team's language. Advanced knowledge of German is an asset.
