The Real World Evidence (RWE) scientist will contribute to the local integrated evidence generation to demonstrate the value of the company’s products within the North Asia Pacific region (NAPAC).

The RWE NAPAC scientist contributes to the local RWE expertise and strategy, and is responsible for ensuring that appropriate RWE solutions (observational studies) are executed and disseminated. The development of these strategies are conducted in close collaboration with the country-specific cross-functional brand, medical affairs and market access teams and should be aligned with the global brand strategy. The scientist will have dedicated therapy area(s) based on expertise.

This role will work across the Northern Asian Pacific Hub (NAPAC Hub) in Lilly, including: Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, New Zealand and Taiwan.

The RWE scientist provides scientific expertise and effective project oversight to ensure the successful fulfilment of the local RWE goals. Also responsible for maintaining knowledge of local databases, relationships with external vendors and building strategic relationships with scientific third parties, while ensuring following all relevant internal processes are followed. Although the RWE scientist will have primarily scientific competency, you will show business acumen, external engagement, and leadership capabilities.

Customer & Environmental Understanding AND Best Practice (15%)

  • Establishing and maintaining a broad network with multiple internal and external customers and partners within Lilly and the pharmaceutical industry relevant to RWE
  • Maintaining awareness of significant developments in the RWE policy and local payer environment within NAPAC, sources and exploring the opportunity to engage with them, including current RWE regulations, methodologies, and RWE payer requirements.

Evidence Strategy, Cross-Functional Leadership and Integration (35%)

  • Ensures that local RWE needs for pre- and post- launch Lilly portfolio are captured in local RWE and business plans and interacts with relevant functions to prioritise and develop these plans.
  • Partners with the right functions (e.g. Global/local: Pricing, Reimbursement & Access (PRA), Value, Evidence and Outcomes (VEO), Market Research, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Global Product Safety, etc..) to ensure local RWE strategies are aligned with local/global/regional brand strategy and follow internal approvals/procedures.
  • Provides RWE scientific expertise, combined with business unit knowledge, to contribute to and effect local cross-functional initiatives or meetings.
  • Disseminates global/international Lilly research to local functions to ensure integrated evidence generation in local plans.

Study Development, Execution & Oversight, inc. Vendor Management (35%)

  • The RWE scientist should ensure local RWE solutions are included in the Business Planning and the research should be conducted in alignment with the Principles of Medical Research. Global/ local procedures and local laws should be followed. and appropriate documentation maintained throughout.
  • Builds strategic engagements with third parties for access to external data source/analysis, report purchases, or observational study execution in compliance with Lilly procedures.
  • Executes, with a third party vendor, real-world or health outcomes studies (e.g., all observational studies: database studies, chart reviews, patient preference DCE, patient/HCP surveys, prospective cohort studies, qualitative studies etc…)
  • Leads dissemination of VEO/RWE information in appropriate scientific venues via development, preparation, and presentation of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts and effectively communicates on results with internal partners.

Project Management (15%)

  • Accountable for delivering the prioritized RWE research on time and on budget, ensuring study/ project budgets are realistic and maintain a proactive communication style with all key business partners (internal and external).

Basic Requirements:

  • Ph.D., M.D., or PharmD/Master’s degree with relevant post-graduate experience in an appropriate discipline (e.g., epidemiology, psychology, health economics, medicine, pharmacy etc…)
  • Significant previous training and experience in leading and executing Epidemiology or Health Outcomes research (e.g., observational studies: database studies, chart reviews, patient preference DCE, patient/HCP surveys, prospective cohort studies etc…)
  • Prior research experience within diabetes, obesity, oncology or immunology (rheumatology, dermatology, gastroenterology) is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience of local health care systems in the NAPAC region is an asset
  • Strong communication, management, and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a cross-functional environment.
  • The ability to work flexibly and travel domestically and internationally.

Location

The position can be held from anywhere in the NAPAC region – remotely or office based.
