Aerospace Systems Engineer

Position Summary

You provide system leadership to all entrusted projects and associated systems, by applying the system development process and performing all related tasks. You bring systems engineering expertise to support the other engineering disciplines and departments within the Business Unit, notably Sales & Marketing, Purchasing and Production. You are the primary point of contact for customers and lead proposal activities prior to New Product Introduction.

Responsibilities

The key activities consist of the following:

·         Lead the technical coordination of entrusted projects (New Product or R&D) from proposal until entry in service. This includes coordination between the HW, SW, mechanical and test activities.

·         Provide technical expertise and support the customer to identify his needs and requirements

·         Capture and analyze all internal and external stakeholders requirements and constraints

·         Develop the functional architecture such that functions can be derived up to their possible allocation to either hardware, software or mechanical elements

·         Produce and maintain the system documentation (ie. specification, configuration) of the products

·         Perform quantified trade-offs between the proposed system architectures and present an optimum solution based on appropriate metrics, such as – but not limited to – recurring costs, Interface complexity, HW/SW integration complexity, modularity, etc.,

·         Define and perform the most cost effective validation, verification and integration strategy applicable to the system under its responsibility, including the production and maintenance of system-level verification test procedures and the definition of test cases in agreement with the applicable standards.

·        Ensure that all system-level deliverables to be provided in the scope of the entrusted projects are delivered in accordance with the quality, cost and planning expected by the project lead, customer and certification authorities.

Qualifications

Field of Study / Area of Experience

  • Master or Bachelor degree in Engineering background (degree in mechanical, electronics, micro-engineering, systems engineering - or a similar discipline)
  • Knowledge of embedded electronics systems, preferably in aerospace applications
  • Experience in aerospace system certification processes (ARP4754, DO-160)
  • Working knowledge of piezoelectric and/or optical sensors is a plus
