We are looking for a Global General Manager Corporate Environment to join our Group HSEC and Human Rights team at our headquarters in Baar/ Switzerland. You will be working in a highly dynamic, diverse, and fast paced international environment with the opportunity to help shaping the function.

Global General Manager Corporate Environment

The main tasks and responsibilities include

  • Effective implementation of the environmental components of the HSEC&HR Strategy to achieve Glencore’s commitment to be a leader in environmental performance
  • Increased awareness to Glencore Board, Executive and Line Management of the importance of Glencore’s environmental performance to its business objectives and ongoing understanding of the area.
  • Development and improvement of environment systems and performance to ensure that relevant environmental, legal and other external requirements are met.
  • Advise, support and assist our Commodity Industrial Leads, HSEC Leads and other managers in
    the implementation of Glencore environmental policies
  • Visible on-site presence and commitment to implement of policies, strategy, standard and
    processes to monitor their compliance and progress
  • Represents Glencore at industry associations in working groups, communicate with relevant
    stakeholders
  • Promote an environment-driven workplace and high-performance culture to underpin the success of the operation and create the depth of necessary skills required across the health and safety field
  • Assist with all environment-related matters

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree qualified in an environmental discipline
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in and familiarity with the resource or heavy industry sector
  • Sound knowledge of and training in ISO 14001 and GRI
  • Understanding of international standards (e.g. IFC, UN principles and UN SDG and GRI Standards)
  • Technical experience in areas such as water, closure, biodiversity, energy, air emissions, land management
  • Experience planning and implementing assurance activities
  • Strong operational and corporate experience, preferably within multinational organizations
  • French and/or Spanish language skills viewed positively
  • Knowledge of Central Africa and/or South America is beneficial
