To develop and expand its business further, River Advice AG is looking for a

The diverse and interesting range of responsibilities includes:

  • Developing, planning and implementing strategies that align with business goals in order to maximize business growth based on business targets to support and promote business growth of River Advice AG
  • Conducting market research and analysis to inform business plans on commercial opportunities and understand future threats
  • Working with the marketing director to plan and execute marketing campaigns to generate new revenue streams and promote business growth
  • Evaluating the performance of commercial activities through data analysis
  • Financial management – setting financial targets and ensuring business operations remain within budgets
  • Working collaboratively across the business with management teams to achieve business goals
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Understanding the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met
  • Acting to acquire new customers and manage client relationships (new and existing)
  • Collaborating with departments across the company (marketing, sales, finance)

As a successful candidate you have:

  • A business qualification - BSc/BA/ MSc/MA in business administration, finance or a relevant field
  • At least 15 years of professional experience as Commercial Director, Marketing Director, Chief Executive Officer or similar position
  • At least 15 years of professional experience in the shipping/nautical industry
  • Experience in managing companies registered in Switzerland which are active in the shipping/nautical industry
  • Detailed knowledge regarding the design of passenger areas of river cruise ships (practical experience in managing the construction would be a great advantage)
  • At least 15 years of professional experience in a leadership role of an internationally active company
  • Knowledge of the cruise tourism product and experience in organizing cruise travel for at least 15 years
  • Proven professional experience of at least fifteen (15) years in developing and implementing successful business growth strategies that align with the corporate aims of the business
  • A blend of commercial awareness, analytical and creative thinking, partnered with a strategic mindset
  • In-depth understanding of the specific (shipping/nautical) sector, market research methods and analysis
  • Experience of participating in international tourist and professional maritime and shipbuilding exhibitions as an exhibitor
  • A deep understanding of business operations, finances, sales and marketing tactics and market conditions
  • At least five (5) years of experience in promoting and selling cruise travel as well as in working with premium cruise operators in the countries of Southeast Asia, USA and Australia
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work collaboratively with key shareholders, both within the business and externally
  • Proven knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, organisational and leadership ability to guide the business to achieve business goals
  • Fluent English skills

 The workplace is Basel. Worldwide business trips are necessary as part of the function on the regular basis.
