Our responsibilities include all aspects of eBay’s business in the EMEA region including eBay’s operations in major European markets -- UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain -- as well as driving growth in emerging markets such as Turkey.

We are looking for an expert and knowledgeable Accounting Manager who can lead and motivate accounting team members whilst ensuring department accuracy and efficiency. The Accounting Manager will delegate, supervise, and participate in accounting department tasks, coordinate the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information, develop and implement department controls and procedures, and ensure that the department operates effectivity in partnership with other functions.

To succeed as an Accounting Manager, you should be people centered, analytical, detail-oriented, flexible and open. The ideal Accounting Manager should possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as strong understanding of accounting and management principles and financial legislation

The activities of this position consist primarily of:

  • Management and the development of a small team based in Bern.
  • Responsible for the monthly G/L payroll accounting process for about 40 EMEA entities.
  • Supporting the global cash accounting tower.
  • Maintaining fully compliant reconciliations of all G/L accounts and integrity of the financial accounts.
  • Completion of the statutory reporting activities and coordination with external auditors.
  • Supervising the processing activities of our outsourced group of accountants in India.
  • Confirming accurate treatment and compliance of all accounting transactions and policies.
  • Interface with management in various departments, including tax, treasury, corporate accounting for accurate consideration of corresponding transactions.
  • Identifying and driving process improvements in a fast paced environment.

Experience and Relevant Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA / ACCA, CIMA.
  • Strong technical accounting background.
  • Minimum 6 years of related accounting experience with a multinational company
  • Great people management skills and a minimum 3 years of experience in a manager position
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to manage projects, process improvements and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused results.
  • Can balance day to day with bigger picture issues.
  • Strong organizational and influencing skills
  • Great teammate, flexible and have aptitude to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization.
  • US GAAP and SOX compliance experience.
  • IFRS or other European GAAP experience
  • SAP Financial System experience, or other ERP.
  • Proficiency in English required, German highly desirable.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work in a face-paced environment and cope with stress as well as tight deadlines.
