What does the role involve?
As intern in our department you’ll be part of our Global Supply Team . You’ll work closely with our experts in 3 different areas: Firstly, develop cost models for our key product categories. Secondly, gain experience in supply market screening and prepare the implementation of new supply chains. Thirdly, revise existing supply chain and prepare a re-sourcing.
Your key responsibilities will be leading the development of comprehensive cost models supported by our sourcing experts. This includes choosing the most appropriate methodology, identifying the relevant cost drivers considering nature of product, applied production technology and business model of suppliers as well as creating the cost model. Once the models are created, these are tested with your support to drive negotiations, sourcing decisions, development of new products and crafting long-term supply strategies for specific product portfolios. An important part is the interaction with suppliers. In addition, you will feed our continuous improvement approach with ideas and concepts to enhance the sourcing process.
Secondly, you'll screen the market for sourcing specific products and drive the decision to select potential new partners of our supply chain. This includes generating the search and selection criteria with support of our experts, use different information channels to gather potential partners, assess the identified companies and finally provide a recommendation for selection.
Thirdly, you'll assess options of re-sourcing a specific group of items including analysing the requirements, developing and assessing different sourcing options and provide recommendation for execution.
The sourcing decision incl. the product design defines more than 80% of the sustainable value creation of our products - it is a key contributor to our business performance.
