Research Officer for the Community Psychiatry Service
The Community Psychiatry Service (PCO) is recruiting two research officers (60% to 80%) to join its Research Unit. The position is fixed-term for two years, with the possibility of renewal.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Department of Psychiatry consists of 10 services addressing the three life stages. It covers the Central, West, and North psychiatric sectors of the canton. Its mission is the comprehensive and multidisciplinary care of children, adolescents, adults, and elderly people suffering from mental disorders. Caregivers provide acute care to patients but also offer outpatient follow-ups and support in their usual living environment.
The Community Psychiatry Service provides psychiatric care for the adult population (18 to 65 years) of the Lausanne metropolitan area. Community psychiatry aims to facilitate the integration and maintenance in the community of people suffering from mental disorders. Particular attention is paid to relational, social, and environmental factors influencing mental health. The therapeutic approach, focused on the recovery of the people followed, is multidisciplinary and relies on mobile, outpatient, and day activity interventions.
The Community Psychiatry Service has a Research Unit that studies means to promote the recovery of people with psychiatric disorders, to lead a fulfilling civic life in the community. The Research Unit emphasizes the first-person perspective and the personal journey of patients. It contributes to the modernization of mental health care. The Research Unit is interdisciplinary and includes a research hub in community psychiatry and a research hub in transcultural psychiatry. It integrates expert patients and the associations representing them in the development, implementation of projects, and dissemination of results. Its goal is to be competitive in the scientific community and to offer robust scientific knowledge, international exchanges, and continuing research education. The Research Unit collaborates closely with other CHUV Services, the Haute Ecole de Santé de la Source, the Institute of Psychology of UNIL, the University Institute of Training and Research in Care of UNIL, as well as with European and Canadian research teams.
Mission
- You contribute to the design and writing of research projects
- You participate in the implementation of projects, data collection, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data
- You ensure monitoring activities and oversee the quality of research processes
- You take part in the discussion of results, as well as in writing reports and scientific articles
- You support the research activities of the Service and contribute to training.
Profile
- You hold a Master’s degree and/or a Bachelor’s degree in psychology or social/human sciences
- You show a strong interest in clinical research as well as quantitative and qualitative approaches
- You appreciate collaborative work within multidisciplinary teams
- Autonomous and creative, you demonstrate active listening and communicate with ease.
