Office for Vocational Education | 90 % | Chur
The Office for Vocational Education (AFB) is a service unit of the Department of Education, Culture, and Environmental Protection (EKUD) and implements the educational policy mandates of the federal government and the canton in the area of vocational basic education. It is also a competence center for questions regarding career, school, and study choices, as well as a supporting instance throughout the entire career path.
The Department of Apprenticeship Supervision advises learners and training companies as well as other stakeholders such as guardians, vocational schools, inter-company courses, professional associations, and examination experts and is a point of contact for questions regarding the training relationship. Furthermore, it conveys educational content in courses for vocational trainers, supervises company training, prepares statements, and is responsible for the operation of vocational education-specific web/applications.
We are looking for a female or male professional inspector for the Office for Vocational Education starting January 1, 2026, or by agreement (90 %).
Your area of responsibility
- Improving the quality of training in training companies through professional support/business coaching
- Exercising supervision in the professions/regions you oversee (especially the school-organized vocational basic education) according to federal and cantonal legislation
- Clarifying the requirements for granting educational permits to the companies of the assigned professions and approving and processing the training or internship contracts
- Providing information and advising learners, guardians, and companies on questions regarding vocational basic education
- Advising adults regarding the qualification process and preparing the relevant decisions
- Participating as a speaker in courses for vocational trainers and events
- Preparing statements/decisions that concern vocational basic education
- Application responsibility for the review, maintenance, and further development of vocational education-specific web/applications
This is what we expect from you
- A successfully completed vocational basic education with further training (e.g., higher professional examination or equivalent training)
- Experience as a vocational trainer or examination expert
- Ideally, coaching training (e.g., CAS) or equivalent qualification
- Ability to conduct adult courses or willingness to obtain this through further training
- Thorough knowledge of the Swiss education system, especially vocational basic education, including legal regulations and their application
- Very good IT skills and high IT affinity
- Committed, team-oriented, solution-oriented, and resilient personality with very good communication skills
- Competent and profitable appearance
- Efficient, independent, flexible, and responsible working style
- Very good German language skills in spoken and written form
- Knowledge of a second, possibly third cantonal language is welcome
