Dental Management Medical Service 50%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The newly established main department Medical Service ensures the medical-somatic basic care for the incarcerated persons in all correctional institutions of the Canton of Zurich. As a central organizational unit, it guarantees a harmonized and high-quality health care according to the equivalence principle and works closely with the Psychiatric-Psychological Service and the JuWe institutions.
The main department will operate as an outpatient dental institution with the corresponding health police authorization and will ensure the billing of dental services.
For the responsible dental management of this new main department, we are looking for an experienced personality with proven professional competence.
This is your field of activity
- You are a member of the Medical Service management and, together with the head of the main department, the management of Medical-Nursing Services, and the Medical Management, bear responsibility for all dental activities of internal and external staff as well as the strategic and professional development of dental care
- You update the dental service catalog in the committee, develop dental standards and treatment guidelines, and create innovative prison dental concepts such as prevention or emergency concepts
- You are professionally responsible for compliance with health police regulations in the field of dentistry and ensure proper basic dental care for incarcerated persons according to the equivalence principle
- You manage the dental unit economically, are responsible for budget accountability, cost control, and economic treatment planning
- You work closely with internal partners such as the general medical service and the JuWe institutions
- You work constructively with external partners such as external dentists, the Health Directorate, authorities, and expert committees, maintain networks, and represent the dental area of the Medical Service externally
- The professional leadership of the dental team, training of dental staff, quality assurance and hygiene management, as well as coordination of dental care with the medical service complete your exciting range of tasks
- Within your workload, you have the opportunity to conduct consultations partially and thus maintain direct patient contact
What you bring
- You have completed your medical studies and passed the state examination as a dentist. Ideally, you have a Swiss dental diploma and have gained at least three years of professional experience in the specialty field
- You possess a valid professional practice license as a dentist in the Canton of Zurich as well as a clean criminal record (extract from the criminal register)
- You have leadership experience and competence and an interest in working in the correctional environment
- You think strategically, are conceptually strong, and have high social and intercultural competence as well as cultural sensitivity in dealing with difficult patient groups
- Strong communication skills, your good understanding of political and legal contexts, as well as your de-escalation skills and willingness to innovate complete your profile
- You have very good MS Office skills and willingness to familiarize yourself with new health information systems
