Join our team in Baden! As the Senior Software Engineer you will be responsible for contributing to the development and enhancement of the GE Power Plant Performance Tool (and subsequently to other engineering tools) used across the company, from concept, design to services. This tool is a key differentiator in the power plant business.

Senior Software Engineer (m/f) - Power Plant Performance Tool

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for the software development infrastructure, tools and processes (e.g. tools for software development, source code management)
  • Be responsible for the release infrastructure, tools and processes (e.g. build engine, test engine)
  • Define and maintain a roadmap for the infrastructures
  • Define, develop and evolve the infrastructures in a fast paced and agile development environment, delivering the desired functionalities to required timelines and quality standards (using the selected technologies)
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of the infrastructures (from specification to user support)
  • Support increased efficiency across the team members, eliminating duplication, simplifying infrastructures wherever possible
  • Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
  • Act as a member of the Agile development team, representing the face of high quality design and best development practices
  • Apply principles of Software Development Life Cycle and methodologies (e.g Agile, source code management)
  • Proactively share information across the teams, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working on software projects in the Energy domain
  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle and methodologies (e.g. Agile, Source code management, bug tracker)
  • Experience with build and release infrastructure and tools
  • Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
  • Autonomous and high willingness to learn new things
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members
  • Ensures understanding of issues and presents clear rationale. Able to speak to mutual needs and win-win solutions. Uses two-way communication to influence outcomes and ongoing results
Desired characteristics
  • Experience with automatic testing infrastructure and tools
  • Experience with Python
  • Knowledge of XML, JSON and TOML data format
  • Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry trends
  • Optional expertise:C, C++
    Java, C#
    HTML
Education Qualification
  • Bachelor/Master's Degree in Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering with a strong interest in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Substantial professional experience in Engineering Software development
  • Professional experience in the Power Plant Engineering is a plus
