Head of Unit for Secretariats in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology
The Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Service (OTR) of the Department of the Locomotor System is advertising a position for Head of Unit for Secretariats at an 80% activity rate. The starting date is scheduled for 1 September 2026.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Department of the Locomotor System (DAL) brings together the Rheumatology, Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, Plastic and Hand Surgery Services, the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Bone Diseases Centre, as well as a Sports Centre. It manages pathologies related to the skeleton, tendons, and joints, whether of accidental or degenerative origin.
The Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Service specialises in the management of traumatic and degenerative conditions of the adult locomotor system, particularly at the shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, ankles, and feet. Its activity is mainly surgical in nature.
Mission
- You ensure the management of administrative staff under your responsibility and contribute to the development of their skills
- You are responsible for the organisational and operational management of the administrative part of the service units based in the Hospital Building and supervise the activity of all secretariats under your responsibility
- You assist the administrative manager in her continuous improvement and process optimisation tasks
- You establish, coordinate, and ensure the follow-up of effective collaborations with other business lines as well as with the administrative management team.
Profile
- You hold a Federal VET Diploma as a commercial employee, a gymnasium-level maturity certificate, or an equivalent qualification, ideally complemented by training in management and/or medical secretarial work
- You have proven experience in team management
- You demonstrate strong leadership and solid managerial skills
- You appreciate teamwork and position yourself and your teams as true partners of other business lines
- You are pragmatic, organised, autonomous, and solution-oriented, with a strong capacity to take initiative
- You are rigorous, able to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a complex environment
- You are motivated, flexible, willing, and possess a strong sense of responsibility
- You are proficient with common IT tools (MS Office, Outlook, etc.)
