Job Description

The opportunity

SMG is looking for a passionate expert who will overlook monetization of our general marketplaces portfolio as well as, propagate and evangelise cross-business unit monetization strategy.

The ideal candidate is data-driven, and loves experimenting and trying new things, while also genuinely caring about SMG customers and consumers, as well as interacting with many different internal teams. Steer cross-functional teams and projects that have a high priority for SMG to maximise revenue.


  • Responsible for monetization / pricing strategies across the SMG portfolio of General Marketplaces (Ricardo, and
  • Develop a deep understanding of SMG's different customers and their needs, and leverage this understanding to develop the revenue strategy
  • Lead monetization / pricing projects, design, manage and analyse growth and revenue experiments
  • Be an active part of the company's cross-functional growth squad: work closely with the management teams of SMG Business Units in the General Marketplaces Horizontal business units, Product Management, and relevant stakeholders to uncover insights and new opportunities for growth and differentiation
  • Develop metrics and presentation vehicles to track and explain the impact of monetization and pricing initiatives
  • Provide strategic thoughts and leadership around monetization and pricing solutions (incl. their impact on revenue)
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and education throughout the group on monetization and pricing matters and be the point of contact for pricing inquiries
  • Help the company continue building out a best-in-Switzerland monetization team over time as the company, the function and needs scale up




  • Master's degree in economics, marketing, business administration or similar, additional studies in data analytics and monetization, as well as price management is an advantage
  • Solid and proven experience in strategic pricing and/or monetization at a consultancy with a commercial focus or within a digital business focused on maximizing market-based metrics
  • Experience in managing senior stakeholders and aligning with matrixed strategic frameworks is important in this role
  • Proven strategic value-based pricing experience for digital products/services - preferably in two-sided marketplaces or classifieds with a strong perspective on strategy
  • Proactive, resourceful and entrepreneurial, with little need for supervision and not afraid of failure
  • Intolerance for ambiguity and driven to find consensus-based solutions
  • Strong project management, execution, and excellent communication skills
  • High comfort with data and analytical thinking including a strong understanding of statistics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer consulting experience specific to pricing / monetization
  • Experience working with product and development teams
  • Experience working with data preparation and data visualisation tools
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to extract and process large data sets (SQL, etc)
