We invite a trainee experienced in purification to join the Downstream Processing (DSP) group. In this role, you will be in charge of the development of a specific step able to remove problematic host cell proteins (HCPs).

ROLE OVERVIEW

Development of a chromatographic step able to remove critical host cell proteins (HCPs)

We invite a trainee experienced in purification to join the Downstream Processing (DSP) group. In this role, you will be in charge of the development of a specific step able to remove problematic host cell proteins (HCPs).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pro-actively assess the challenges in downstream processes related to the removal of host cell proteins (HCPs) and define a list of the most critical HCPs coming from CHO cells based on literature research.
  • Select the most critical HCPs to be removed in our specific mAb process.
  • Assess the different chromatographic tools available in the market to remove the selected HCPs and engage discussions with suppliers.
  • Engage discussion with internal analytical group to define appropriate analytical tools.
  • Establish rigorous study plan taking into account timelines, budget and material availability.
  • Execute chromatographic step using Akta systems at lab scale and report results using internal templates and software.
  • Demonstrate the capacity of the developed step to remove selected critical HCPs while keeping comparable product quality and process performances.
  • Write development report with a clear outline of the results, in English; Present results’ summary within the team or outside in English.

EDUCATION AND DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s Degree (end of study internship) in biotechnology, biochemistry, bioengineering or related field.
  • Previous experience in downstream processing development including chromatography (hydrophobic interaction, affinity, ion exchange chromatography etc.) and with Akta system.
  • Ability to work in autonomy with limited supervision and with flexibility in a rapidly changing environment;
  • Strong sense of organization and exceptional planning skills allowing to deliver in a timely manner;
  • Sense of initiative and excellent problem solving skills, proactive in proposing solutions;
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal is a must have.

You will join us, in a picturesque city of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
