The Vascular Development group in the Institute of Molecular Plant Biology (IMPB) at ETH Zurich is searching for a research technician starting in September or per arrangement for a 2 years 50%-75% position.\n
The successful candidate would join a young and motivated research team studying the development of vascular cells in plants. The position will involve basic lab management as well as technical assistance to scientific staff (postdoctoral fellows and PhD students) to develop research projects.
The work will include a variety of molecular biology techniques including, but not limited to, media preparation, bacterial cloning, plant work, genomic DNA and RNA extraction, microscopy, and other molecular biological approaches. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to assist master students within the lab, ensure the lab is stocked and organized and interact with other technicians from neighboring groups to coordinate an optimal work environment.\n
Ideally, you are a trained research technician with some laboratory experience in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field. Persons with a Master or Bachelor degree will also be considered. Excellent organization and communication skills are required. You should be a highly motivated, responsible/reliable person, who is eager to learn new techniques and work with other group members. Very good knowledge of English is required and a good command of German is beneficial.\n
