Specialist System Operations system forecast and optimization (80-100%)
Shaping Switzerland's electricity supply
Our System Forecast and Optimisation team is responsible for forecast studies ranging from D-2 to intraday in collaboration with the actors of the Swiss and European electricity grid. This includes, on the one hand, operational activities carried out in the team according to a 3×8-hour schedule, and on the other hand, strategic projects for the development and integration of new European processes as well as the tools of tomorrow. In this exciting role, you will take on the following tasks:
- Creation of Swiss grid models based on consumption forecasts, cross-border production and trading plans, and planned work on facilities
- D-1 and intraday analysis of grid security and preparation of measures to resolve bottlenecks in coordination with foreign transmission system operators, power plant operators, distribution network operators, and internal teams
- Calculation, validation, and publication of transmission capacities at the Swiss borders (NTC), in D-2, D-1, and intraday
- Assessment of security of supply within the framework of European coordination STA (Short Term Adequacy), based on consumption forecasts, available production capacities in Switzerland, and considering transmission capacities at the borders
- Participation in various projects at Swiss and European levels to develop the processes and tools of tomorrow

For this exciting position at the heart of the electricity grid, we are looking for a team-oriented, communicative, and conscientious person who completes their tasks efficiently and has a high level of comprehension. You are characterized by decisiveness, natural authority, and a high degree of responsibility and are enthusiastic about the operation of the transmission grid. In addition, the following points apply to you:
- University degree in electrical engineering or similar fields and experience in the field of electricity grids; experience in grid operation is a plus
- Good mental health and high resilience in stressful situations
- Analytical thinking skills, dexterity, and accuracy in handling complex data; programming skills are a plus
- Ability to collaborate well with operational and multidisciplinary teams
- Proactivity and independence in task and project management
- Very good English and French skills; basic knowledge of German is desired
- Willingness to work shifts and on-call duty (24/7), occasionally also on weekends

About us
The System Operations department is responsible for the operation of the Swiss high-voltage grid. With around 80 employees, we ensure that Switzerland always has sufficient electricity and that the electricity system is stable, secure, and available at all times – from multi-year planning to real-time operation.
The System Forecast and Optimisation team mainly works in the control centers (SGC) in Prilly and Aarau. It consists of open-minded engineers with different professional backgrounds. We are a highly motivated, closely collaborating team with a high degree of personal responsibility and solution orientation.
