The Cantonal Hospital Authority (EOC) is looking for a specialist for the position of
Deputy Head of Urology at the Regional Hospital of Mendrisio (80-100%)
Urology Service of the Regional Hospital of Mendrisio - Beata Vergine (OBV)
The Urology Service of the Regional Hospital of Mendrisio:
- ensures all basic urological skills, with significant endourology activity (TUR-B, TUR-V)
- is the cantonal reference center for complex nephrolithiasis
- is recognized as a Clinic B in the EOC training network in Urology
Main responsibilities
- lead the clinical management of the ward (over 480 inpatients/year) and the outpatient clinic (over 6000 consultations/year);
- coordinate medical, nursing, and administrative staff, ensuring high-quality care in a collaborative environment;
- promote collaboration with other services, departments, and EOC institutes;
- develop and monitor quality and clinical governance programs;
- lead, train, and evaluate medical staff, fostering their professional growth;
- contribute to achieving clinical, safety, and efficiency objectives, in line with the directives of OBV, the Medical Area, and the EOC Urology Service;
- promote a culture of continuous improvement and patient empowerment;
- strengthen relationships with general practitioners and local institutions;
- support management in defining and implementing strategy, respecting quality and financial objectives.
Requirements
The candidate must have:
- federal specialist title in Urology according to articles 20 and 21 of the Federal Law on University Medical Professions (LPMed). For foreign titles, Mebeko recognition is required before starting activity at the EOC;
- preferably holds an advanced training title in complex endourology and reconstructive urology;
- experience in urology acquired at least in a senior physician role in a cantonal or university hospital;
- proven experience in clinical and managerial leadership of a hospital urology service;
- experience managing high-volume outpatient clinics;
- willingness to propose a strategy to improve service efficiency and better resource management;
- commitment to promoting professional development of collaborators, ensuring continuity of already developed activities;
- teamwork orientation, dialogue, and interprofessional collaboration;
- aptitude for developing basic and continuing education in Urology;
- excellent command of the Italian language and good knowledge, in addition to English, of other national languages.
