Safety & Reliability Engineer

As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity and modern electronic systems. The AW09 delivers latest safety standards as well as more performance and comfort at low operating costs.
Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).

Your responsibilities


  • Conduct safety activities according to Kopter safety programs, time and cost effective

  • Prepare system safety documentation, such as SFHA, P/SSA following Kopter’s defined methodologies

  • Review of suppliers’ safety and reliability documentation for the assigned systems

  • Liaise with engineering design departments, airworthiness department, customer support and suppliers for safety and reliability subjects

Your qualifications & experience


  • A degree (Bsc or Msc) in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in safety in aviation industry, experience in rotorcraft industry an asset

  • Good knowledge of one or more systems: Avionic, Electrical, Fuel, Environmental Control, and/or Hydraulic

  • Familiar with Isograph FaultTree+ or PTC Windchill

  • Knowledge of SAE ARP4761 and ARP4754A

  • Knowledge of aviation regulations (CS23, CS25, CS27 or CS29) 

  • English spoken and written minimum B2 level
