VARO Energy is focused on becoming a leading player in the European energy transition, with an ambitious strategy to grow exponentially in the renewable energies sector. Large projects are currently underway in the fields of hydrogen, biogas, green electricity, e-mobility, carbon offtake and trading, carbon-based crypto assets, and biofuels. Currently VARO Energy’s key economic drivers are its major downstream business in North West Europe. VARO refines, stores and distributes (bio)fuels for the European market. VARO has been a major player in the area of blending and trading sustainable biofuels for more than 10 years.
VARO Energy has a large and expanding asset base. The group owns a refinery in Switzerland, a majority share of a refinery in Germany, more than 50 (bio)fuels storage facilities throughout Switzerland, Germany, France and the Benelux and has the logistical expertise and infrastructure to transport products from the refineries and the terminals to its customers.
As Trading Operations Manager Biogas you will have an exciting view point in one of the key transformation pillars of VARO.
Biomethane offers a broad range of opportunities to develop business and structure deals. Together with the Biogas trader you manage and optimize the Biomethane portfolio and make the trading portfolio a great success.
You will report to the Trader Biogas.
Ensure successful trading by managing & optimizing the Biomethane portfolio with the Biogas Trader on the operations side
Provide advice and recommendations on the renewables economy to Trading Desk to guide clients and suppliers on accurate positions and business development opportunities
Evaluate and process incoming volumes for accurate, regulatory-compliant delivery to customers
Function as an interface between contract closure and invoicing. Taking care of the administration and follow up around a day to day trade
Ensure precise trade splitting and reconcile positions across databases and registries
Support ISCC&RED certification
Forecast production and consumption of renewable products
Perform monthly inventory reconciliation and internal Sustainability audits.
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related disciplines
3+ years of experience in oil/gas and/or commodity trading, with a preference for biofuels/renewable gas/renewable power trading
Strong knowledge of the Dutch transport sector
Professional knowledge of ISCC& RED Certification & NTA8080 /Better BioMass
Experience in Sales & Trading in Renewables
Excellent verbal and written skills in English
Analytical and quantative skills

Flexible, commercial attitude and an entrepreneurial mind-set
Willingness to develop new and accepting that all processes and principles are not yet in place
Strong communication skills
Self-starter and self-driven, but likes co-working
