We are currently looking for a Materials Technology Director to join our Corporate Procurement team. This is a newly created position and will report to the Chief Procurement Officer. The main purpose of this role is to reduce kp materials Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), reduce material risk through co-qualification and to reduce carbon footprint from purchase materials to meet kp’s ESG goals. Please note that this role is flexible to one of our kp sites in Europe or USA.

Your Responsibilities:
 


  • Design and implement leadership of a TCO program through a matrix task force.

  • Continuous development and report out of KPIs showing quarter over quarter material risk reduction/exposure to single approved materials.

  • Point of contact within kp as the expert of alternative materials to drop in vs incumbent materials..

  • Keep abreast and kp aware of constantly evolving legislation concerning such things as food contact requirements in all countries where kp operates.

  • Working closely with Ops (Production & Quality) expand materials processing window with target to open the supply market options further.

  • When necessary, technical interface with Key Supplier Partners on material selection, qualification and material related developments

  • This role will have a Business Partner interfacing closely with Heads of Innovation & R&D and Product Line Management
     

Your Profile: 
 


  • Degree level Chemical Engineer / Polymer Science or equivalent with extensive proven work experience 

  • The ability to understand the interaction “material/process” through experience in polymer converting, preferably extrusion, calendaring and thermo forming

  • Career in Plastics converting manufacturing would be a distinct advantage, as would several years’ experience in a related position or field such as Technical Services in plastics producers.

  • The position requires good interpersonal skills as it will involve working with cross functional teams spread across the kp organisation globally. 

  • Network of National and International associations dealing with polymers and plastic packaging in particular

  • Great network of technical and market relationships to improve ideation and accelerated knowledge capture

  • Excellent Project Management and use of such software tools

  • Expertise in Excel, Powerpoint, BI tools, DEA modelling, MS Project or similar, scenario/sensitivity analysis, and ROI analyses, Vendigital platform

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Fluent in business English, additional language skills an advantage
