Position Summary
As the Programs, Campaigns & Memberships Manager at Africa Unlimited, you play a central role in the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of the Africa Collective’s flagship presence at Davos and other high-level convenings throughout the year. Your work sits at the intersection of content curation for and during events, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery, linking thematic priorities across our Networks, Projects, and Investments verticals and ensuring that our events are both impactful and aligned with Africa Unlimited’s broader mission.
You manage the end-to-end process of high-level convenings in collaboration with the event manager and serve as a key point of contact for partners, speakers, and participants. You play a key role at the intersection of event content and logistics, taking a leading role in shaping the content of events by connecting cross-cutting themes, coordinating briefings, and ensuring the smooth execution of the events in close coordination with the event manager. You also contribute to building Africa Unlimited’s positioning and thought leadership through targeted outreach and strategic content framing.
Key Responsibilities
Event Content & Project Coordination
- Shaping the programming of Africa Collective formats in Davos and beyond including the flagship Swiss-African Business Day Geneva.
- Lead coordination of speaker or program-related aspects of event planning and logistics, working closely together with the event manager.
- Support other events across Africa Unlimited networks as needed (e.g., Swiss-African Business Circle, Art Network Africa).
- Ensure link between content/program and event logistics (slides, setup of room, speaker briefing, speaker gathering, flow of the session).
- Contribute to the content development of events and sessions by identifying themes, drafting speaker briefings, and aligning formats with strategic priorities.
- Serve as a liaison for corporate, governmental, and institutional partners, ensuring their integration into relevant event formats.
- Support the linking of content across networks (e.g., between Art, Digital, and Business) and ensure thematic consistency across all initiatives. Assist in the coaching and preparation of speakers.
Stakeholder Outreach & Communication
- Mapping of key stakeholders, outreach to new stakeholders, and creating new thematic marketing lists.
- Manage participant acquisition and communication, including targeted outreach and the planning/drafting of mailings.
- Contribute to the development of marketing materials, branded communications collateral for the event and post-event communications.
Membership Management for Africa Collective
- Management of member requests.
- Onboarding of new members.
- Research on potential new leads.
- Contribution to the further development of membership models.
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Draft and compile event evaluations, reports, and impact assessments.
- Propose improvements to content formats, delivery mechanisms, and event concepts to strengthen Africa Unlimited’s positioning.
Required Qualifications & Profile
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Event Management, International Relations, Business, Communication, or similar).
- At least 2–3 years of relevant professional experience in event content management, stakeholder engagement, or international project coordination.
- Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in French and/or German is a strong asset.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to link session content at events to practical implementation.
- Proven ability to manage high-level events and multi-stakeholder engagements.
- Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and a proactive mindset.
- Affinity with Africa-related themes and demonstrated commitment to the continent’s development and innovation agenda.
- Hands-on and adaptable with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience working with senior-level stakeholders (corporate, government, multilateral).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, agile team. Interest in design and production of marketing collateral (including some experience working with design tools e.g. Canva and agencies).
- Flexibility to travel internationally, including to African countries.
