The Assistant Director Associate General Counsel (ADAGC) is a senior legal professional with significant knowledge, technical and leadership skills and experience and is responsible for providing expertise, advice, support, and research on diverse subject areas to support IATA’s business activities, both internally and externally. The ADAGC within the Standards Legal Workstream is part of the Legal Workstream leadership team under the leadership and direction of the Director Legal Services (DLS). The ADAGC reports to the DLS.
legal advice on diverse substantive and procedural questions of considerable
complexity, which may include those related to IATA’s core activities, standard
setting (IATA Traffic Conferences), financial settlement systems (BSP and
CASS), Travel Agent and Cargo Agent Programs, products and services, bankruptcy
law, antitrust law, administrative law, litigation, dispute resolution,
administration and management, procurement and contracts, corporate compliance
and human resources through the following activities:
legal issues or having legal implications.
Advanced University degree in law, (LLB, JD, LLM) from an
internationally recognized university.
Industry experience (airline or travel agency).
Admission to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction, preferably the UK, EU member state, Canada, US, Australia or New Zealand.
Ten years post legal qualification experience as a minimum in increasingly responsible positions in an organization, government department or law firm.
Significant legal professional knowledge, skills and experience.
Excellent command of English.
Superior written and oral communication skills.
Effective, confident communicator and a team player.
Time management.
Demonstrates ownership of tasks, referring to senior team members for guidance.
