For our CC Packaging Design Team in Lausanne, Switzerland, we are therefore looking for a Senior Packaging Designer. In this position you will: • Create outstanding and efficient packaging design solutions for our CC international brands; Marlboro, L&M, Chesterfield, Parliament & Philip Morris, giving mentorship and leading design development across functions. • Develop new SKUs or complete line ups, redesign existing SKUs or ranges, adapt a large variety of packaging designs for specific market needs, integrating business and consumer requirements and ensuring product design variants are conformed with legal and technical constraints for further worldwide deployment. You will take care of design guidelines preparation and coordination, supporting marketing teams with a continuous update of their respective packaging portfolios. • Take care of design management for all the tasks you’re in charge of, carefully monitoring the precise coordination with marketing and production functions, applying accurately the PMI processes in place, and ensuring an efficient and safe transition from a creative layout to highly sophisticated printing processes. • Be a trusted and accountable point of contact across the different functions involved in packaging development, providing on a regular basis, design and production guidance, maintaining the highest quality for our packaging designs and ensuring the consistency of our brands. • Be responsible for testing and printing at our prepress/color target supplier all the new developments you will be in charge of, ensuring the handover delivery to packaging developers’ team of perfectly prepared high resolutions files, with a full set of printed materials which will be used for final production. The quality of materials you will provide will have a direct impact on speed and efficiency to reach the expected result on our industrial printing production lines. • Be requested to work on more global and complex projects involving all our international brands, coordinating with the different partners involved (marketing, legal, production) and providing detailed design guidance for Operations’ team to take over and reflect the correct application of design principles established. • Demonstrate technical competence to understand packaging components for tobacco products. • Contribute to drive new opportunities for projects covering improvement to achieve top industry best methodologies. Develop and improve our existing digital tool and lead digitalization printing projects. • Provide guidance/training to relevant parties and ensure that appropriate technical expertise is used and transferred to meet resource requirements and departmental goals. • Acquire a truly global perspective, as you will be mastering the overview of the brands’ design essence, connecting dots with competitors’ strategies and exploring new design opportunities for the brand’s growth in untapped segments or unserved consumer needs. • Be a key part of the creative design process, developing new products/limited packaging editions by ideating and delivering striking concepts, or contributing to the creative brief for external packaging agencies. • With your design, prepress and printing expertise, contribute to explore, propose and apply production innovations as well as cost optimization improvements, maintaining the quality expected by international tobacco brands. We’re looking for someone with: • 5+ years of experience in packaging and design development in FMCG or tobacco industry or equivalent, with strong technical competence (packaging; product development; regulatory requirements; manufacturing process knowledge). Autonomously apply packaging design practices, procedures and develop accurate recommendations, alternatives, and improvements to existing processes. • Ability to defend your work in terms both strategic and tactical to senior management. Confidence to comfortably participate in spirited debate on the pros/cons of various design options. Understand and distill insights from qualitative and quantitative data research on packaging designs. Collaborative mindset and agility, with strong communication skills, confidently stating their point of view. Hands-on attitude, with strong drive to achieve results and gets things done on time. Flexible team player, always ready to help with an ability to anticipate what’s needed before it’s asked. • Curiosity and eagerness to understand, with very good creative and design skills, who can work with big bulk of information, able to connect the dots, spot out emerging trends and insights and turn them into design actions. • Design management skills, with experience of leading complex, cross-functional projects. Organizational skills are a must to ensure an efficient and optimized workflow across roles and functions. • Demonstrated capacity to work under time pressure, organize and prioritize work to meet changing requirements • Federal Certificate or equivalent degree in Graphic Design. • Perfect mastery of Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro. Powerpoint, Excel, Word skills are a plus. • Proven work and sound experience with all the printing processes used by PMI’s production suppliers; offset, gravure, digital, flexo, cardboard and flexible. • Proficiency in English • Only applications with a Portfolio in PDF will be considered.
