Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

Join our dynamic team at Roche and contribute to meaningful initiatives in sustainability and innovation. Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability #IP2TIS offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world. As a sustainability and innovation intern, you will work on cutting-edge projects that align with our commitment to environmental responsibility, social impact, and forward-thinking solutions.

At Group Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SHE), with the help of our partners in IT, we aim to bring all data together from different sources and systems so that we can report them and generate insights instantly. At the moment, data is fragmented and distributed across different sites and affiliates. Additionally, data is not being collected and reported in a unified and standardized way. This is something we aim to address and improve the way we manage these data.

Our ambition is to build a unified data model and data pipelines, so that the data can be streamlined from the different sources to global reporting in an automatic way. A starting point for this internship is to propose and construct a data model, which will be leveraged and used by all relevant sites and affiliates. The intern could focus on one domain which is well understood and crucial: CO2 emissions. As a summer intern in Group SHE you will investigate such open standards and ontologies and propose a data model for CO2 emissions.

This internship position is located in Basel, on site / hybrid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand the needs of Group SHE and their customers and stakeholders towards reporting and analytics in the field of CO2 emissions

  • Do a comprehensive landscaping of existing open standards, frameworks and ontologies in the area of CO2 emissions

  • Propose a theoretical data model for CO2 emissions at SHE by taking into account stakeholder feedback and state of the art methods

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your Master’s studies at a university, preferably in the field of data science, environmental science, computer science or a combination thereof, within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months and getting to know the pharmaceutical industry.

Furthermore you are

  • Highly motivated to change the way Roche collects, manages and reports CO2 data so that we are better able to reduce our footprint

  • Able to work independently and achieve results

  • Have a good understanding of the value of open standards

  • Have used and ideally implemented open standards before

  • Have strong analytical skills

Technical details:

The start date for the internship is 1. July 2024.

The application deadline is April 15.
