Community Coordinator, Global Plastic Action Partnership

Fixed term until Sept 30th 2025, with possibility to extend

The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the international organization for public-private cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

The Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP) is a multistakeholder platform hosted by the Forum that aims to eradicate plastic pollution. It works through both a global and national platform, bringing together public, private, and civil society leaders to develop joint solutions to the plastic pollution crisis, which are both pragmatic and ambitious.

Why we are recruiting

The World Economic Forum is host to the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP), which is a public-private collaboration platform to help translate political and corporate commitment to address plastic pollution into concrete action plans.

GPAP is building a global community of stakeholders from public sector, private sector and civil society. Our communities operate at a global, regional, national and levels to support coordination of plastic action activities and drive impact on the ground. Our national multistakeholder platforms delivers strategic, evidence-based analysis that supports enhanced decision-making. They also provide the opportunity for strategic stakeholders to coordinate action and amplify impact.

We are now seeking an early-career professional to support coordination across our growing national partnerships. This cross-cutting role will include programme management, event coordination and general team administrative support.

Reporting lines and interactions

The NPAP Community Coordinator will be based at the World Economic Forum’s Geneva office, within the Global Plastic Action Partnership team, reporting to the National Platforms Lead.

Main responsibilities include:

  • NPAP Coordination Support

    • Supporting coordination between GPAP Secretariat and the NPAP Secretariats to ensure continuous alignment and drive for impact.

    • Supporting the establishment and management on Salesforce of NPAP communities.

    • Support NPAP related events and sessions with key standardized processes related to invitations, event/session design, stakeholder correspondence across all 3 event phases (preparation, delivery and review). Serve as key focal point for relevant third party providers (e.g. venue, logistics, tech)

    • Create, manage and own an NPAP calendar with highlights of important milestone per country

  • Knowledge management

    • Lead coordination and delivery of regular Knowledge Exchange Series with NPAP Secretariats

    • Lead processes and tools that allow the NPAP team to perform at its best, including approaches to team meetings and other team-wide activities

    • Lead annual update of the NPAP Playbook  and other best practice templates and processes

  • Impact measurement and management

    • Collecting and uploading KPI data and capturing key announcements and highlights from all NPAPs and their work within each impact area on a regular basis (monthly/quarterly)

    • Support NPAP team in delivery of Top Management (including Steering Board) updates: gathering insights across all NPAPs

    • Support NPAP team in creation of presentation and any material (could be videos) necessary to communicate NPAP achievement and impact internally to Forum or externally

The successful candidate will be assessed on

  • Excellent organization and project management skills and ability to plan workflows to help internal and external teams meet deadlines.

  • Ability to effectively coordinate and structure information

  • Proactive and positive mindset to work across team priorities and committed to finding solutions to potential issues that arise

Preferred requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in project/program management or communications.

  • Excellent event management and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in digital tools for event management, data analysis, and virtual collaboration.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English. Additional language skills relevant to the focus countries are advantageous, in particular Spanish.

  • Strong time management skills
