Technology Strategist I OR Technology Strategist II

Zurich North America is currently hiring a Technology Strategist and this person will work out of our Schaumburg, IL HQ in a hybrid schedule.

This role will be filled at either the Technology Strategist I or Technology Strategist II level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

As a Technology Strategist I or Technology Strategist II, your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Understand business strategy and how IT plays a part to enable it
  • Coordinate and help drive discovery sessions with business owners and IT colleagues to understand current state and help design future state by gathering detailed requirements through interviews, documentation and facilitated working sessions
  • Create process models based on business requirements to determine the completeness of the information and process components
  • Organize and manage multiple assignments with potentially competing priorities and deadlines, while adhering to departmental guidelines and expectations
  • Evaluate project impact through consultation with the business, regulatory, Information Technology management, development, quality assurance, validation, and training teams
  • Perform requirements analysis to determine systems’ potential and define impact on other business units and systems
  • Support the development team in completion of impact assessments and validation of effort estimates
  • Develop simple business cases for defined projects in own area of IT expertise, to determine potential benefits, clarify the rationale for investment and support the planning process
  • Conduct external research of trends and technology topics to summarize and share insights
  • Perform quantitative and qualitive analysis and synthesize findings
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders in business and IT
  • Engage in conversations on a wide spectrum – from high-level strategy to granular processes and system details

Level 1 –

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of financial services industry including knowledge of insurance business processes and processing
  • Must possess in-depth, strong problem solving analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed; ability to tailor approach based upon audience and message
  • Hands on experience with change management tools/methodologies
  • Proficient in using computer based tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Level 2 –

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science or Engineering and 5 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area AND
  • Process reengineering, e.g. LEAN/Six Sigma, Continuous improvement methodologies
  • Process modeling tools
  • Business Systems Integration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in intermediate complex enterprise projects
  • Able to identify and consider business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment
  • General knowledge of financial services industry including knowledge of insurance business processes and processing
  • Must possess in-depth, strong problem solving analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed; ability to tailor approach based upon audience and message
  • Hands on experience with change management tools/methodologies
  • Proficient in using computer based tools
