Head of Global Software Procurement (m/f/d)

We are looking for the Head of Global Software Procurement to join us. The position is based in Wallisellen (Switzerland), responsible for the entire SW Procurement of Allianz Group worldwide and is functionally reporting to Group Head of IT Procurement.

The Global Software Procurement Team coordinates all software procurement activities from category strategy development to contract management with the aim of delivering value for Allianz Group worldwide. This highly professional and international team identifies opportunities in the global supply markets while ensuring alignment with stakeholders to support business objectives.

Leading global negotiations for software contracts with significant volumes and top players in the SW arena, recommending strategic direction to maximize growth opportunities while establishing working relationships with more than 40 operating entities across the globe.

What you do

• Strategic Procurement Planning: Develop and implement the procurement strategy for software in alignment with the Group's overall objectives, for the whole Software category at Allianz Group level (over Eur 500 mn yearly spend managed)
• Team Management: Lead and manage an international team of approximately 20 procurement professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative work environment
• Procurement Process Compliance: execute defined procurement processes (sourcing, contracting, supplier qualification, ..) , ensuring adherence to industry best practices, compliance with relevant regulations and internal rules (compliance, data privacy, security, ESG…). Contribute to the upgrade and transformation of the overall procurement practice, also leveraging on own experience in other companies/ industries
• Supplier Management: Develop and maintain productive relationships with most relevant global software suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and conditions, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services
• Contract Management: Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and execution of procurement contracts, ensuring clarity and compliance with legal and company requirements
• Negotiations: overseeing and executing negotiations with providers, actively monitor and manage the trade off between financial efficiency, effectiveness, risks (operational, reputational, financial) speed, ESG in sourcing activities
• Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities to optimize procurement costs while maintaining quality standards, driving cost reduction initiatives, and monitoring spend patterns
• Risk Management: Assess and mitigate potential risks associated with procurement activities, implementing appropriate risk management strategies
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including IT, Finance, and Operations, to understand their requirements and align procurement activities accordingly
• Market Research and Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and emerging technologies in hardware, data centers, and telecommunications, providing regular updates to senior management
• Regularly report on key procurement metrics, savings achieved, and outline potential opportunities for improvement

What you bring

• Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management) is required
• Proven multi-year experience in strategic software procurement/ software reselling, preferably on similar scale and in the financial sector, in Europe
• Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing teams
• Demonstrated experience in strategic procurement planning, contract management, and supplier relationship management
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Proficient in English (both written and spoken); German language skills are considered a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements
• Sound knowledge of procurement regulations and best practices, third party risk management and compliance requirements
• Experience in managing a significant procurement spend (over 500 million EUR yearly) is highly desirable
• Ability to travel internationally as required
