Summer intern will work on a range of projects critical to the strategic direction and growth of the company. S/he will interact and collaborate within the function and across Hitachi Energy as well as conduct research using open and subscribed sources. S/he will be managed by the Vice President, Business Development and M&A and will work closely under the supervision and tutorship of the assigned function project managers.
Responsibilities and projects will support each function specialty:
Market & competitive analysis
Compile and contribute to weekly business intelligence reporting (macro-economic, market, competitor, and customer information)
Mergers & acquisitions
Monitor and report on in-bound acquisition and investment opportunities; manage communications with Hitachi Energy business units and with external parties (investment bankers, brokers, outside counsel) and ensure follow-up on decisions and next steps
Lead and prepare M&A project intelligence – weekly news scans, target company profiles
Participate in due diligence for active projects including managing virtual data room and organizing due diligence requests and weekly work stream reporting.
Contribute to monthly pipeline and KPI reporting to Hitachi Energy Executive management.

Support on-going business development initiatives aimed at driving innovation, strategic growth and new business models - for example,
Region-specific Consulting Growth workshops
Innovation playbook
Collaboration opportunities with Technology Venture portfolio companies and external fund managers
Challenges
Working with a variety of Hitachi Energy business unit and function leaders, external advisors and a globally dispersed team
Attention to detail and quality commensurate with CEO and Executive level discussions
Breadth of topics and projects across the Corporate Development function
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
