About the role
This is a 10-month maternity cover position, starting on December 1, 2025.
The primary objective of the Communications Manager position is to help raise the profile of GARDP, its R&D portfolio and position GARDP in the AMR landscape. S/he will participate in developing the annual GARDP communications plan in an integrated way within the overall GARDP action plan.
S/he will propose and help lead implementation of communications strategies for GARDP, both institutionally and programmatically by drafting content, liaising with media and building GARDP’s digital presence across social media channels.
S/he will support stakeholder engagement, including mapping audiences, identifying and supporting delivery of opportunities for strategic engagement across key issues and external opportunities.
S/he will play a leading role as a key member of the GARDP External Affairs team and work closely with colleagues across the organization.
Together with the Head of Communications and other members of the team, s/he delivers communication plans for R&D programmes and across the organization that strengthens GARDP’s brand and reputation. This includes:
• Developing content, leveraging R&D milestones as news hooks, and building awareness of disease impact ensuring content is consistent, accurate and timely
• Undertaking multiple varied writing/editing tasks to support production of corporate publications including factsheets, press releases, brochures, annual reports, case studies, policy papers, and quarterly newsletters, and slides
• Organizing field or partner visits for content collection, managing external vendors, timelines and budgets
• Supporting promotion of scientific articles
• Managing interactions with the media
• Working with agencies to develop and implement campaigns and PR strategies in line with GARDP’s communications strategy
• Ensuring GARDP messages and themes are regularly featured on social media channels in accordance with social media strategy, working closely with the Digital Communications Senior Officer
• Providing council to teams in relation to media, reputation and external environment
• Ensuring all content adheres to GARDP guidelines in terms of consent, rights of use, logo use and validation
• Developing content and materials that directly supports fundraising efforts
• Working closely with Policy Advocacy team to ensure GARDP is present, visible and active in the political AMR space, and included in high-level political discussions
Other tasks
• Work closely with the Head of Communications on other communications tasks including the development of the annual communications plan

Qualification and Competencies
Qualifications
· Strong writing/editing skills in developing corporate communications content
· Relevant post-graduate degree.
· Minimum 8 years' relevant experience working in global health communications, in which at least 5 years at senior officer level or equivalent.
· Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure
· Understanding of and commitment to global health, medical innovation, scientific research, and access to medicines issues
· Experience working internationally and coordinating network of collaborators
· Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure
· Experience drafting text for web and social media, knowledge of all social platforms
· Knowledge of Wordpress, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, photography and video (also editing tools)
