Head Transforming Care Oncology
Location: Baar Switzerland.
At AstraZeneca, we’re not afraid to do things differently. We’re resetting expectations of what a biopharmaceutical company can be. This means opening up new ways to work, pioneering cutting-edge methods, and bringing unexpected teams together.
As Head Transforming Care in Switzerland (Baar), reporting to the Head of Oncology and serving as a member of the Oncology Leadership Team, you will set the strategic vision and operating model for Transforming Care (TC) in the market. You will align with national health priorities and AstraZeneca strategy, and drive scaled adoption through standards, partnerships, and governance, ultimately improving system outcomes and patient access across the cancer care pathway. Anchored in our bold ambition to eliminate cancer as a cause of death, you will help transform pathways end-to-end to accelerate earlier detection, precision treatment, and equitable access.
If you’re inspired by the possibilities of science to make a difference and ready to discover what you can do – join us.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As Head Transforming Care, you will lead the end-to-end design, implementation, and scaling of TC initiatives across oncology and coordination of TC across franchises and functions (Medical, Diagnostics, Patient Affairs, Market/Public Affairs, Market Access, Commercial – nonpromotional, and Digital/IT).
Your responsibilities:
- Set Transforming Care vision and portfolio: Define a multiyear TC agenda and national/market level priorities aligned with AstraZeneca priorities and strategy (e.g. patient identification, guideline concordant care, precision diagnostics, pathway optimization). Propose resourcing tradeoffs across initiatives to maximize impact.
- Establish standards and governance: Establish end to end pathway mapping standards, bottleneck identification approaches, and codesign innovative approaches with critical internal and external leaders.
- Scale proven initiatives: Codify playbooks, secure multiyear funding, and establish governance to replicate successful initiatives across sites/regions. Own the plan, sequencing, success indicators, and remove systemic barriers to adoption.
- Lead change: Identify portfolio-level and policy-level risks and opportunities critical to addressing cancer care gaps. Set change management strategy and frameworks; sponsor stakeholder engagement plans. Intervene on escalations and secure executive and authority sponsorship as needed.
- Coordinate cross-functional delivery: Ensure coordinated alignment across Medical, Commercial (nonpromotional), Patient Affairs, Market Access, Digital/IT, and Public Affairs at the country level to deliver system outcomes, operating within role scope and in alignment with the global Transforming Care AI team.
- Foster strategic partnerships: Coordinate engagement for key stakeholders around Transform Care priorities (e.g. clinical societies, PAGs, provider networks, screening programs, labs, consortia) through existing teams.
- Metrics and Data: Define the KPI taxonomy and success metrics; ensure dashboards and data pipelines exist across markets. Lead rapid cycle learning loops, drive best practices and cross-market knowledge transfer.
Essential Requirements
- 10–15 years in healthcare and pharma transformation with system‑level delivery and large‑scale implementation
- Proven cross‑functional, multi‑stakeholder leadership at national/regional levels
- Strong change management, stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, policy engagement, and governance design
- Ability to set multi‑year strategy and operating models; make resourcing trade‑offs and establish governance and pathway standards
- Negotiate and manage frameworks with authorities, societies, provider networks, and labs; represent confidently in national forums
- Data‑driven approach
- Oncology experience across e.g. clinical practice, scientific knowledge, precision diagnostics, and pathway optimization
- Languages: English fluent; German and/or French at fluent level.
Preferred Requirements

- Experience with digital health, data interoperability, and AI enabled operating models in care pathway transformation
